A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Celebrate Parks video contest! Your creativity and enthusiasm floored us. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and maybe learned a thing or two about national parks along the way.
You chose the top 10 favourites from the 90 entries, and our judging panel—award-winning travel and adventure journalist Bruce Kirkby, CPAWS Board president Oliver Kent, and Parks Canada CEO Alan Latourelle—chose the top three.
Gros Morne National Park: Tales from da Trailz: George Woodhouse
With catchy music, great info, and infectious enthusiasm, this video was the judges' top pick.
George wins a trip for two to Nahanni National Park, NWT, courtesy of Nahanni River Adventures.
Celebrating Bruce Peninsula National Park: Rachel Henderson
Information-packed, with a fun, personal feel. Rachel wins a customized HD Flip camera.
Isabelle goes to Elk Island National Park: Owen Strasky & Barb Atamaniuks
Our judges called this video "a great way to explore the park through the eyes of a child". Owen wins a $100 gift certificate to Mountain Equipment Co-op.
The top three also receive a one year family pass from Parks Canada, and the top 10 will have their videos featured at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Fest in February.
Thank you to all who participated!
